Born Juiy 12. 1943 in Dinslaken, Germany
Studied metallurgical sciences between 1965 and 1970 at Aachen Technical University, Germany
1969 - 1970 worked for about 10 months in the hot strip mill at Thyssen Stahl for my diploma thesis, a practical and theoretical investigation about the roll gap geometry, strip gauge, strip profile and strip flatness. In this thesis I mentioned the possibility of cross rolling, an active control of the roll gap geometry. It was later used by Mitsubishi, so called "pair cross rolling".
1970 started my professional career in the R&D department for rolling mills at DEMAG.
Here I made my dissertation about the rolling process and roll pass design to produce beams and other sections. This dissertation was supported by Prof. Dr.-Ing. F. Kösters, Professor in Aachen and managing director of HOESCH Stahl AG.
After approx. 4 years in the R&D dept. I moved into the technical sales / proposal dept. in which I was following the business for rolling mills to produce long products especially wire rod, bar, light and medium section mills.
1978 with SMS in the technical sales / proposal dept. for heavy section mills as deputy general manager. Besides the section mills there was another special product, the PSW (three roll planetary mill) for the production of seamless tubes and solid bars.
1986 to KRUPP to push the product "Section Mills". Here I was the responsible general manager for sales / proposals and order execution for all rolling mills to produce long products. We were for example, fully responsible for the wire rod mill "Fagersta Stainless A.B." in Sweden right from the beginning of the proposal upto the start up.
1990 KRUPP was taken over by MANNESMANN DEMAG.
1990 Based on a proposal by me to Mrs. Danieli and Mr. Benedetti, Danieli founded Danieli-Germany, where I had been managing director for 5 years. Danieli-Germany had to introduce Danieli into the market of Heavy Section Mills and was responsible, in general, for section mills worldwide for the marketing, technical sales and proposals, design and order execution. In these 5 years, our team booked and executed a lot of very interesting orders. These 5 years were full of many positive experience in an excellently managed company. The typical Danieli way of thinking and work culture regarding customer oriented work and cost consciousness had to be our standard in Daniel-Germany.
1995 I got an order by Dr. Östmann and Mr. Borchert, the new owners and managing directors of SKET, to found a new division for section rolling mills in Oberhausen, a new product for Sket besides their original product mix of wire rod, bar and light section mills. Another target was, that my colleagues, who came together with me from Danieli-Germany, and myself would introduce the successful management and work culture of Danieli. At the end of 1995 Dr. Östmann and Mr. Borchert left Sket. From this time, Sket is again public owned and controlled by the BVS, a government organisation. As Dr. Östmann and Mr. Borchert left Sket, I left Sket, too. In the short time at Sket, our team introduced important machine design like housingless mill stands to be used as two high or universal milll stands or like that of a new roller straightener, which is used in a new medium section rolling mill in China.
1996 I moved back to SMS and I worked from that time as technical director of SMS India, Kolkata, where I participated in a leading function to develop the new company. The first phase was successfuly finished at the end of 1997.
1998 The company HEEPP with partners in different countries was founded by international experts including a team in Germany.
